I noticed tonight while listening to some music in stereo mode that my left speaker sounds quite a bit brighter than my right speaker. I switched the cables on the speakers so the left was connected to the right channel out and vice versa. After changing the wires the right speaker was brighter.
EDIT: I should also mention that I have 2 DVD players hooked up and tried the same CD with both. The results were the same, the left channel out was brighter than the right.
I don't know what to do. Ideas?

Then the problem lies with the speaker or the cable. Try switching the speakers and NOT the cable. That will narrow it down to one or the other.
There is nothing wrong with the Onkyo.

I did switch the speakers. I hooked the left output into the right speaker and vice versa without touching the cables connected to the receiver.
I hope this makes sense. I switched the connections at the speaker end but not at the receiver end.

Im feeling dizzy now.
Ok, you said that the left speaker is brighter, you then switched the cable/speaker connection (at the speaker side NOT at the receiver side), and now the right speaker is brighter.
Well, then that would rule out the speakers. Now to test the cables. Try switching the cables at both the speaker side AND the receiver side. In other words, keep the left speaker at the left channel, right speaker at the right channel. Just swap the cables.

Speaker wire is cheap, just replace them both.
If you want to test the wires, swap the same wire out with the same speaker with no other changes.
Are the wires the same?

You guys are going to laugh when I tell you what it was...
It appears that the CD I was listening to was the reason the left speaker was brighter than the left. I ran through tons of CDs and for some reason Eric Clapton's Timepieces CD is brighter from the left speaker than the left. The rest of the CDs I tested did not have this problem.
