Advice on sub $1000 receiver

I'd like any advice possible on purchasing a home theatre receiver for around $1000 Canadian (~$790 US). Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

You might want to take a look at the Pioneer 1014. It has autoEQ, DPL IIx and has been rated fairly highly by some on-line users. You can find it for about $US400.

Thanks I'll check it out. I have found that there are many good deals out there on "B" stock items. Does anyone have experience with such items?

If you go with an entry level Pioneer Elite model (52TX), you get a three year warranty....and a bit more prestige....probably a hundred or two more than the 1014. I believe that the regular Pioneer lineup gets only one year. The Pioneer Elite 56TXi looks awfully tempting at CAD$1500 street ($1700-$1900 list?).
