Questions about switching between "surround back/zone 2" on DENON AVR-1803
I am currently using the "surround back/zone 2" outputs for Zone 2 to listen to music through my two towers from my old stereo. I will eventually be getting a pair of Klipsch Quintet satellite speakers from a friend to use for the two surround back (I have the rest of my HT hooked up with the Quintet I originally bought) and was wondering what would be the easiest/cheapest way to utilize both sets of speakers.
My two towers are in the same room (they actually hold up the front Klipschs) so I'm currently just using the standard 'Zone 2' method without the intergrated pre-main amplifier. To me the easiest way seems to just use a speaker selector (or manually switch the speaker cables) to switch between 'surround back' and 'zone 2' depending on whether I want to listen to music or 6.1 movies. But even if I do this won't I have to also switch the "Power Amp Assign" switch on the back of the receiver everytime I make a switch? If this is the case, does the Denon 1803 remember all of the setup options (tuning levels, etc.) for the surround back speakers after switching the "Power Amp Assign" switch back and forth between the two options?
Am I missing something, is there an easier way for me to do this without having to buy an intregrated amplifier just to listen to my music (my cd's) in the same room? I'm thinking the cheapest alternative is to just buy a speaker selector for about $20 from Radio Shack to switch between the two but I'm worried about the settings (although the switch on the back is still a minor inconvenience).
I'm still pretty new to this so I'm not quite sure if I'm correct in my assumptions. Also, the manual talks about an INTEGRATED PRE-MAIN amplifier, what exactly does that mean? Thanks for all of your help, it is greatly appreciated.
Oh, and one more thing (sorry), when using the surround backs, does the receiver just use the same sound for the left surround back as the left surround and ditto for the right side when watching movies in 5.1 or are the surround backs just silent during 5.1? Thank you!
