Yamaha HTR Line & Warranty

I know the RX-V line of Yamaha receivers must be purchased locally from and authorized dealer. It says the HTR line can be purchased on line, mail order, etc. Does this mean the warranty will be honored if you purchase an HTR unit on line which is below the MSRP, or does it still have be from an "authorized" dealer?

It has to be purchased from an authorized retailer, online or brick & mortar, no exceptions and it makes no difference whether its HTR or RX-V. I was given this information from a service manager at Yamaha.
