I have a HK-AVR 75 receiver that has worked flawlessly for several years. Just recently it's been acting kinda strange. The right front channel will occasionally make a popping noise and some minor hissing noise. It'll drop all sound then pop, then sound will come back. Also if I turn the volume all the way down, upon reaching the bottom-most volume setting (-64 I believe) a popping noise will come out from the right front speaker again. All the other channels are fine.
I've checked the wires and I have good connections everywhere. It happens when watching HDTV via a coax connection and with DVD via optical. So is something wrong with the amp itself? I just found it odd that I'm getting a popping noise upon reaching that low volume setting.
I just did some more testing and I noticed when the volume is cut all the way down and the pop occurs the receiver actually switches into the stand-by mode. The receiver also seems to be switching into the stand-by power mode when the audio will briefly cut out and all of the sudden it will power back on and the audio once again kicks in.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff
