In my main 5.1 system, I am currently using:

Pre-amps
Lexicon DC-1 V4
Sony TAP-9000ES

Amps
McIntosh MC-402
Anthem MCA-5 mkII

I will probably replace the Lex/Sony pre-amp combo when something good comes along with Firewire/HDMI inputs for hi-rez.

Ummmmm...

(looks at equiptment rack, top to bottom: $100 DVD player, $200 CD changer, $300 receiver, 15 year old Mitsubishi receiver that was bundled with a big screen and is now a test amp for my DIY speakers, PS2, various cords and surge protector)

two channel is much more important to me than home theater.
