Well guys, I have come to the firm conclusion after investigating this issue in great detail, that the issue with DD-5.1 and DishNetworks receiver is a compatibility problem that lies within Dishnetworks receivers.

I've come to this conclusion after conducting several test on my own. I called a few friends of mine as well as my Uncle, all in which who also owns the 1014TX-K. Some have cable, some Direct Tv, the others have DishNetwork.

The ones who have cable and Direct Tv have had NO problems whatsoever, the ones that have DishNetwork all have this problem, with the exception of my Uncle, whom I consider to be very lucky.

I then to went to see a good friend of mine. He is the owner of one our more popular A/V stores here in Wichita. In his show room he has DishNetwork hooked up to some of his tvs, and Cox cable hooked up to others. We first hooked up the 1014TX to DishNetworks 811 HD receiver, to little suprise the problem exsisted. We then hooked up an Onkyo TX-SR602 to the 811, there was no problem and DD-5.1 worked perfectly. Then we connected a Yamaha RX-V1400 to the 811, again, there was no problem and DD-5.1 worked perfectly. After that we hooked a Denon AVR-2805, the problem exsisted on this receiver, and the DD-5.1 didn't want to lock on.

At this point we decided to try these receivers out via other HD receivers. We hooked up the Pioneer VSX-1014TX-K, the Onkyo TX-SR602, the Yamaha RX-V1400 and the Denon AVR-2805 to the Motorola DCT-6412. For those who are not fimilar with this model, it's the same as the DCT-6200 except the 6412 is also a DVR. Each and every receiver worked flawlessly, there were no problems whatsoever.

The conclusion formed based on the tests that we conducted leaves me to honestly believe, that this is an issue that lies within DishNetworks receivers, not being compatible with all A/V receiver manufactures. That being said, I canceled my DishNetwork account and switched over to Cox Cable HD package. They'll be out next week to install my Motorola DCT-6412 HD/DVR receiver and then I'll be golden.

Does the 6412 HD/DVR record HD channels as well as SD? Or does it just record SD and tune HD?

Thanks

Yes, it sure does my friend. He's all the info on it:

Motorola Dual-Tuner DVR High-Definition Set-Top DCT6412
Get the most from your digital cable with the advanced dual-tuner digital video recorder (DVR) and high definition (HD) television set-top that decodes, records and plays in HD format.

The DCT6412 combines the extraordinary features of digital cable — great programming options, interactive program guides, Video on Demand, and commercial-free, CD quality music — with dual tuner digital video recording and the incredible picture quality and sound of high-definition television (HDTV).

I'm not sure what's up with the sponsor links. I've noticed that whenever I post they show up when certain words are used. Might be a settings issue, I'll have to check it out.

That sounds like a great HD DVR. What cable service do you have and in what area? I'm going to look in to this unit through Comcast in Smyrna, GA tomorrow.

Quinn....I used to own a Kenwood Vr309 (my first), now I own a Pioneer VSX-D712K, today or tomorrow my 1014 will be here. Although the VR-309 was a good entry receiver, the VSX-D712 was a step up and a noticable one. I am hoping the 1014 is another step (or two) up from the VSX-D712. I don't think you can go wrong with the 1014, unless you have a DISH receiver that won't work via toslink with the 1014.
