Lol.. I hear ya. I am lucky enough I can avoid the highways complete, I work down by Crowne Center and live out northeast of Independence. I just take the main streets, you wouldn't catch me within miles of I-70 during rush hour.

Though I question the performance to price ratio, I do know somebody with a sweet looking Sharper Image system that he uses to wake up in the morning. There's a Sharper Image store at the Country Club Plaza, or down at Towne Center Plaza in Leawood. You can also buy Sharper Image stuff at Circuit City now I believe. They are aesthetically pleasing for sure, but I think they're overpriced too.

Umm I think Teac has a nice unit that runs around $400.00 but if you're looking for a less costly alternative I have found that the volume control on GE clock radios also adjusts the volume on the alarm. I discovered this about 20 years ago because I too have been know to oversleep once in a while. The Teac unit is nice but you could probably do a clock radio for under $20.00
I also have an older Pioneer digital tuner with a built in clock and timer which I used exactly once as an alarm clock because I found that no matter howlow the volume is set it still scares the heck out of me when it turns on.
FYI it is a Pioneer F101T tuner. I have seen them on Ebay for less than $50.00. If you have a bedroom system you may want to look into that.

I'm really suprised that no one recommended the Bose wave radio!!!

Not.

Now there's a company that offers buck for the bang (the buck going to them).

Blose Wave Radio + ButtKickers on bedframe = an HT enthusiast's morning jolt.

I gave up on tracking my collection and actually started watching what I have.

well thanks all, i splurged on the phillips 5 cd changer. although it doesnt have a sub out, [i thinks thats an upgrade cause it has a spot for sub out and audio out]
it will spin CD's in the morn to wake me up, woke me up real nice, it gradually increases the volume. Ive got the speakers under my bed directly under my pillow

for $150, it aint bad. gave the speakers away cause I had some others I wanted to use. Funny, jno more bass/trebble controls on this thing......
