Rotel RB-970BX Amp for $50.00?

I can purchase a Rotel RB-970BX amp from a guy I work with for $50.00. I have not seen it yet, but the guy seems very picky about his stuff. He says its a 40wpc 2-channel amp. Is this correct? Is anyone familiar with this unit? Should I consider it a steal and take it from him?

Thanks.

Update:

I downloaded the manual from Rotel. It's apparenty a 60wpc (8 ohms 20-20K). It was only manufactured in 1994 and retailed $380.00. The guy claims he bought it about 4 years ago.

What are you currently using? If you're using a receiver, you might as well pick this up and power your L/R mains which then leaves more power for the rest of your HT setup.

Try it - don't like it, sell it for $!

I'm in a similar situation, only I have the gear - but no pre-outs.

I'm going to try replacing my receiver for the sake of that feature alone....

You call that a knife?
