Circuit City where I live is having a going out of business sale. They have a Onkyo TX-NR 801 for $599, reg. price $899. How good is this receiver, does any one have any experience with it?
They also have the Pioneer 912k with the auto MCAA for $250 should I get this instead? Thanks.

I know the Onkyo is in another league compared to that model Pioneer. But I really want the Pioneer because of the MCAA feature. But I know that Onkyo is killer at that price.

LaMarcus,
If you have AVIA and SPL Meter then don't worry about the MCACC feature on the Pioneer.
The Onkyo will be worth the extra $350....but if you don't want to spend that much
From my past experience the Onkyo sounded better than the Pioneer(Onkyo 600/Pioneer 811).
Oh and yes it really isn't fair to compare the 912 and 801 but at that price I don't know why one would pass it up.
Another thing ...you have the 811 so why would you want to go to the 912. The only thing you gain is the MCACC which if you have the other stuff you don't need it. Just my thoughts...

No brainer, that is a very good price for the 801.
