Early batches of the 7400 seemed to have heat problems. I've been a fan of Marantz for many years, and I have only had one problem with one item (a CD player). I have zero complaints about the 4 receivers and two amps I have and have owned from them.
Personally, I prefer Marantz sound to Denon, at this price point anyway, though they are techincally owned by the same company.
