Denon 3803 Remote Use

I have a question regarding the Denon 3803. From the main unit, its possible to change the video selection using the "video select" button and the knob (for example you can listen to the tuner or a DVD source and set the monitor to output a different video source such as DBS or Cable.)

Is it possible to use access this funtion from the remote control?

can't swear to it, but.......probably.
If the remote for that is anything like the remote for the 2803, there's a bit of a learning curve to it. Good luck!

Well, there is a remote code that will change the Video Select function and the 3803 will respond to it. But, no, it's not on the 3803's remote.

Someone recently posted that a lower end Denon (1804 I believe) has the button on the remote. If you can go to a dealer, you may be able to learn it from one of these remotes.

I obtained my code from a $25 One-For-All universal remote. These remotes can "create" remote codes by entering code numbers to emulate specific models/brands.

Checkout this site for more OFA info...

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Im doing the snoopy dance all over the house!!!!

I went to the page you suggested and was completely flumuxed... Then I read that "all in ones are often packaged with other devices." I remembered that crappy remote that came with my digital cable converter...

After tearing the house apart looking for it, when I finally found it, it didnt look ANYTHING like the remotes shown on the website, but I figured... "WHAT THE HELL???" I started following the instructions for setting an advanced button, and the led started blinking just like it said it should....

To make a long story short, IT WORKS!!!! Now I've got the code so I can program my Sony av2100!!!!

YOU DA MAN!

Great! Glad to help.

I use the Video Select command daily in my setup. I'd hate to give it up...

I used my old Denon AVR-2700 remote to "learn" the video select function on to the 3803 remote. Works fine.

I cant beleive they dont have this button on the remote...

Same goes for the Rec-out, but thats less of a problem... Is there a remote code for Rec out? I didnt see one on the Universal Remote page mentioned.

No, I haven't seen a REC out selection remote code.

Denon did release extended codes for several of their line (including the 3803) for things like direct volume jumps to -20, -40 and 0 db. You can also get codes for direct mode switching, like going directly to Mono Movie, DPL II Music and so forth. Also Zone 2 control for direct input selection and 3 volume presets. Lots of additional stuff. But no REC input changing...

Erik, Did you use the device 0160 and 218 to get the vid select to work? My 3803 doesn't respond to any of the advanced codes I have tried with the 3803 I have used the same procedure to program other codes to my OFA then to my MX500.

Jeff: Are the 0076 codes the ones you're trying? From what I understand, there are no current One For All remotes that support 0076 out of the box. The only way you can generate the codes is to use the JP1 PC interface/program.

This is the method I originally used. A kind JP1 guru helped me over at remotecentral.com and the codes worked 1st time out. Besides the JP1 method, I also have the codes via Home Theater Master (for the MX-700.) I use an MX-500 daily and I have taught some of the codes to it. I have IRClone for the MX-500, and if you do too, I could e-mail you some of the main codes.

Erik: As Jeff has already noted, the extended codes are obtained via PC and a PC-connectible remote. You can use a JP1 enabled One For All, one of the MX series of Home Theater Master, a Pronto (or Pronto look-a-like) and a few others like that. Remotecentral.com has the info (along with the JP1 website I listed above) and the help on how to start working with PC connected remotes.

Thanks Chuck, I was trying the 0160 codes. I have the JP1 stuff and have never tried it out until yesterday with no luck but haven't given it a real hard go at it. I was able to create a new device and get it into the remote it doesn't appear real difficult but just trying to find the correct information is half the battle. Do you have the JP1 upgrade file you could send me?

You know I am about this close in ordering the MX 700 how is the programming interface for that?

Thanks Jeff
