Value of balanced amp connections

My 10+ yr old Denon AVR-2500 is starting to act up and I'l probably replace it in the next month or so. I want to go with separates and will probably buy a B&K Ref 50. To save a few bucks, I'm considering mating it to a Parasound HCA-885A amp which does not have balanced inputs. Is this a big deal? What is the value of using balanced connections between a pre-amp and an amp (btw, they will be close together)?

The value? None, really. Balanced connections will reduce interference over long signal runs, but that is hardly ever a consideration in home situations. Besides, using the balanced connections means additional circuitry in the signal chain.
