Onkyo 801 or Yamaha V1400

I am looking to get a new receiver to replace my old sony that is 5.1 ready, hahaha. I was thinking either the 801 or the 1400. I would like some of the more experianced members views on these or anything in that price range that would be a better buy. Any info is apprciated. Oh and if someone else has brought up this thread before....sorry for the repost

Talked to the guys at Hi Fi house tonight and they said the Yamaha is a better piece and he could do it for 695...not too bad. So I think im gonna go with that one. It's pretty bad when I have to reply to my own thread

$695 is a good price for the RX-V1400 from a local dealer. I have the 2400 and am very pleased. Just make sure the 1400 sounds better to you.
