I noticed the first 7400 I saw in the stores to be VERY hot while idle, and that concerned me quite a bit. I was offered a great deal on an OSE as well, but went with the 8300 instead.
The OSE is not immune to the hiss problem according to reports, but I have yet to hear a single unit that actually has this problem.
IMO, I'd probably go with the OSE vs the 7400. I think it actually has better DACs (same as the 8200 I believe) than the 7400.
