Getting my first HT setup

Hi everyone!

As you might have already read in other sections, I am new to this home theater thing. I am looking to spend roughly USD 4,000 on a receiver/amp and 5 speakers to get started and have a 350 sq. ft. room to work with.

I'm not sure how I should break down my budget, but I was checking out the B&W dealer today in Hong Kong and found out that they are also dealers for Rotel. Any comments on Rotel? Don't know how well they work, but they look amazing.

Also, I read on another post where someone suggested a Rotel amp and Rotel pre/pro. Is that something that I can consider based on my budget or am I way over my head with this?

Please offer suggestions on anything from my budget to how to breakdown my budget cause I have no idea whether I am spending way too much, way too little or what. I guess I'm asking a stupid question though cause I'm sure it's all relative. But for a new guy what do you all think?

I'm just going on aesthetics and what I hear from other people. One thing I know for sure is that I can't trust the salesmen.

Thanks,
Kenny
