Before going into detail with my "problem" I did a search and found something not quite related but discussed the aspect of white noise tests on Denon receivers:
Denon white noise tests
My problem, if it can really be called that is that when I did some white noise level tests using the receiver's built in test tone circuitry I started noticing, at very random intervals - say 10-15 seconds through a least 2 speakers an extremely faint but almost metallic sound for a fraction of a second. Occasionally I thought I could hear a slight warble. I am guessing it would have been present on all of them. It required a bit of concentration to hear it. I then popped in my copy of Video Essentials and ran the tests there and did not hear any of this.
I just assumed that it was something to do with the receiver's test tone circuitry but am wondering if others have noticed anything odd in their white noise tests using a Denon receiver and the built in test tone circuitry.
