Hi,

I'm looking for a receiver. I have a budget of 1000$ US (1300$CA).

Presently, I'm looking for H/K since it's the one I can listen here. The H/K AVR630 is 760$ at Etronics.com

Is H/K a good buy? Other model I should check?

I personally like HK and you can usually find them for uner $1000. The HK AVR-630 is a nice piece.

Another one I would look at is the HK AVR-7200. See which one will suite your needs better.

I think the only main advantage the HK AVR-7200 has over the 630 is the extra watts per channel which really isn't much of a gain...

IMHO, the H/K AVR7200 is the best reciever you can buy inside the $1000 range, other contender worth auditioning are Denon 3803, Marantz SR7300, Yamaha RX-V1400. Maybe you could buy a NAD 752 in that range, not to sure though.
