I'm probably going to be getting an M&K 5 speaker setup -- K7 for L+C+R and K4 for surrounds. If I don't go with M&K, I would be going with the Definitive Technologies Procinema setup.

For subwoofer, I would likely get either an SVS, velodyne or Hsu.

What is the best receiver for these speaker setups? I'm a HT newbie and have read that the different receivers are better for different speakers.

I definitely want to spend less than $550 on a reciever. That is already stretching teh budget a little and would prefer something <=$500.

Options I've gathered so far:

Pioneer VSX-43TX
Pionjeer VSX-D912K
Panasonic SA-XR45
Denon AVR-2803
Harman Kardon AVR325
Harman Kardon AVR330
Harman Kardon AVR525 (used)
Sony STR-DA1000ES
These are all in the price range, many of them being refurbished.

Give me all your feedback!

I just bought a Denon 3803 and I have the K-5's(LCR)/K-4's(surrounds) with a Velodyne F-1500 sub and it sounds great. I like the K-7's too and as a matter of fact, I may upgrade my K-5's to the K-7's and move 2 of the K-5's to the rear for Rear Surrounds.

I run an RX-V3300 from Yamaha with my S-100's, and it sounds brilliant!
