Light burned out on volume knob of receiver, anyone fixed this themselves?

Ok, I have an old Sony DB830. The light on the volume knob burned out and the knob itself has started to stick lately. I was wondering if anyone has replaced the light for a powered volume knob before? Is is difficult to do? I am pretty sure it is out of warranty. (If I remember correctly the DB had a 3 yr warranty.) Thanks.

I've never had a lit volume knob, though it would have been nice. I settled for a piece of white tape, the kind used to hold bandages on. Not as great as a light, but MUCH better than a dark knob in a dark room.

Mine doesn't either. I snipped a little triangle out of a AAA decal.
