Ground Loop problem again
I know there are many threads on this (some even started by me), but I have a specific question I was wondeirng if anyone knew how I should go about handling it. I have had various ground loop issues (horizontal lines, buzz). After various configurations I had them mostly taken care of. I was using the Parts Express Isolator and that worked, but added some distorition. The buzz/lines seemed to sort of come and go, but recently we have rewired the cable (it was split far too many times etc) so now we have it down to the minimum splits, but the hum/lines are back. We live in a duplex, and split the one line of cable to both units. Also it is split to a cable modem and a PC. If the line into the house is removed all interference is gone.
The first line that I can find with a signal that is split to both units has a grounding wire coming off of it. This line is outside the house, and the wire goes to a water spigot screw that is badly covered in paint. I'm not sure I can get this wire anywhere near back inside much less down to the fuse box where presumably there is a grounding pole? My question is what should I do with this wire to get things grounded properly, or is my only option to try some other kind of isolator and hope for no distortion (the Jenson one or Magic Box)?
Thanks for any help.
Joe
