its my understanding from my Anthem Brochure that THX Ultra2 Cinema is for use with DD 5.1 DTS 5.1 mixes. And that THX Surround EX is for use with the DD EX, DTS ES (matrix & discete). (keep in mind i am talking for 7.1 playback)

does everyone else agree that Surround EX goes better with the matrixed and discrete 6.1 channel mixes, while the Ultra2 Cinema is better for 5.1 mixes? Im curious if anyone maybe use for example (ex: Ultra2 Cinema, on a DD EX mix) Looking for more info on the processing modes

Yes the brochure is correct. With a 6.1 mix ULTRA2 won't process the sixth channel it will only process the 5.1. ULTRA2 is better for 5.1 and THX-EX is for 6.1.
