Rob, again I have the Marantz sr5300. I don't know what to tell you as to how to get the sub pre-out to work in s-direct. It SHOULD work. The only thing that I can suggest is to try playing around with large/small settings, because when i first got my unit, i was trying out different sub hookups, and sometimes when putting it back into s-direct when i had the sub set as OFF, it would change fronts to large, sub to ON, but there would be no sub output. I had to fiddle around and enter the menu, and then it was as if it "realized" that the sub should be on in S-direct and it came on. Just quirkiness. If you can't it to work and this is a new unit, try another unit at your dealer and see what they can do for you. Who knows you might have a rare melon or something.

I know for a fact it won't work on mine and most others. Yours is one of the rare ones which is good for you but frustrating to many.
There are only a couple of methods for most of us and that is what I described in the last post.
I think we could also use something like an Outlaw ICBM but not sure.

No, with the 6200, the x-over only applies to whichever speakers are using the "small" setting.

Then what kind of signal am I getting out from the sub pre-out when the speakers are set to large? I am definitely getting signal to the sub. If no Xover is engaged, I should theoretically get no output for the sub....Right???

If you are in 'Stereo' mode (not 'Direct') and your sub=on you will get sound from the sub regardless of your 'small' or 'large' speaker settings.
If the receiver x-over is only active in the 'small' setting, I would assume that in the 'large' setting the subwoofers x-over is being used, but in this case your mains would still be getting the full-range signal.

This is probably a dumb question, but can one damage their speakers by using source direct? I have an 8200 and my speakers aren't specifically full range so I was unsure of whether or not it's ok to use them in source direct mode.

It depends on the speaker. What speakers do you have? You could overdrive your speakers sure, but even most small bookshelfs should have no problem in s-direct, as long as you don't try to turn them up ridiculously loud.

Some speakers, though are really only designed to be used with a subwoofer, and may be more vulnerable, with small drivers and the like that may not be able to handle the power so well.

Source Direct on my 8300 gives me exactly the same thing as the 6200 - No sub with 2ch material, analog and digital.
