Finally spent the time to get things working so that i can control the AVR reliably. The AVR8000 sometimes has a tendancy to switch out of 7.1 mode and switching off the center rear surrounds. On the other hand, on many 5.1 dvds i much prefer the 5.1 audio track since i don't care for the loss of dynamics that 7.1 provides so i manually switch off the rear surrounds via the OSD then back on when i'm done. In short i find the AVR8000's interface here quite quirky...... So i created a macro to toggle the surround back speaker. I have a ccf for anyone interested but the macro goes like this.
on remote :
AVR
speakr
V
V
enter
^
enter
enter
the above macro will toggle the surround back to Large, Small and off. This allows me to switch on/off the SB speakers on the fly. Very handy macro instead of having to bring up the OSD and manually adjust the 5.1/7.1 speaker setting. Edit: Of course i have the macro all programmed under one keypress, makes things easy this way. Thought this was worth sharing since this gives the user complete control over the AVR8000 instead of the other way around. I find the 8000 likes to randomly switch it's settings and this macro now takes care of that. Works like a charm
