AVR525 overheating

A salesman at onecall.com tried to explain to me that if I ran JBL S312II's that it might overheat the receiver. I thought that receivers of this quality had protection devices against such problems, and that running 312's should be no problem. Especially for this high quality receiver. Please let me know if this is a bad idea to run these floor speakers directly out of the AVR525. Thanks, all the best.

Yo Mark!
Considering those are 8 ohm speakers with a sensitivity of 92db you should have no problems whatsoever driving them with that receiver.
Hey....any relation to Claudius Maximus! :>P

Agreed, 312s should be no problem for this receiver.

I can't think of a reason why there should be a problem if those are 8 ohm speakers. Out of curiousity, what did the salesperson recommend instead?

Well I told him that I found a pair of 312 on Harmon Audio for the same price that they were offering the 310's, he suggested the 310's because of the specified reason. He was just trying to get buisness, and I'm glad I asked. I figured as much and glad you guys helped me out.

you should be happy that you got the 312s over the 310s, its a major jump in sound and imaging between the two.
