Cheap stereo receiver?

Hi I'm building a stereo for my bedroom and need help finding a receiver. The speakers I'm using are 100w Klipsch RB-35's. I don't have a sub right now but may get one in the distant future.

Would this receiver work well?

Thanks

BTW I know that one won't take a sub, but other than that would it be alright?

Thanks

If I were you I would go on ebay and look for a Sony DB930 digital reciever. These thinks pack a ton of power in stereo mode and are available for very good prices.

Are the watts divisible by the number of speakers you're using? Like if it says 100 watts x 5 channels will it put out at least 130 watts with 2 speakers? I thought those speakers were 100 watts but they're 130w

The Sony will work and will make music. In my office I have a stereo system with some old Mirage 290is speakers that I got for real cheap second hand. The receiver I use is a H/K 3270. Not only does it work and make music, it actually sounds good! I would not trade it for any similar priced Sony.

Personally I like the sound and reliability of both H/K and Onkyo over Sony for a stereo receiver. I would buy the H/K receivers that Kyle recommends before I would buy any Sony.

Mike,

I was going to 2nd Kyle's recommendation on a H/K. I got 3470-Z from HarmanAudio Ebay for slightly less than normal price. Has worked great for my kids bedroom system. I have an older Onkyo 575X that I still enjoy. You should be happy with your sellection.

Try a plain old amplifier with volume controls, or an "integrated amplifier" which has multiple inputs and tone controls. They probably sound better than a receiver at a given price. This is a $200 or so one I have experience with: http://www.audiosource.net/00_amptwo.html
