Hey guys

I recently blew one of my speakers to my surround system. I actually blew the midrange speaker. The tweeter still works
but the mid dosen't move. What should I do.
I have a Yamaha surround speaker package. With the five small identical satellite speakers with a 3" mid. Somebody told me they sell replacement mids at Radio Shack. Is it true
Or am I stuck with one broke speaker. and will be forced to buy a whole new system

I would contact a Yamaha service rep and order the replacement driver. It is probably fairly inexpensive. I would not go to Radio Shack. You want the exact same driver if you want the exact same sound.

You will have to get the exact driver specifications from Yamaha: impedance of the driver and its sensitivity and then you can order the same spec driver from parts express. Even then not having the same freqency response as the blown driver will not guarantee the same timbre match. The best would be if Yamaha sold you a replacement driver. That way the timbre would be matched. They are relatively easy to change.
