What do you think?

I just purchased the marantz 4300 for $375.00. I could have got the 5300 for $529.00. Did I do the right thing I really don't need the front inputs the 5300 offers and I beleive the only other difference is the 10 watts per channel. I plan on powering the energy take 5.2 in the future but now I have cerwin-vega 12" floorstanding speakers up front and a cv 12" sub and cv rears. It sounds great. What do you think about the marantz? Thanks David

The 5300 is also better for video switching if you have all S-video components. The amp is beefier for driving big speakers, but your Energy system should be fine with the 4300.

If I had oodles of cash I would have gotten the 8200, but at the time I could only afford the 6200. Even so, I was upgrading from a Yamaha RX-V390 so the 6200 was worlds better.

The question you have to ask is, are you satisfied with the 4300, and if not, can you afford the 5300?

Keep in mind you could always consider the 4300 to be a "temporary" situation. After a year, sell it (or give it to a favorite relative) and upgrade to the next generation 5x00.
