Re: DIRECTOR CHECKLIST SERIES - Volume #493 - SERGEI BONDARCHUK
UPDATED:
War and Peace (1967)
WOW!!!!!!
Now this is what I call epic filmmaking.
Adjusted for inflation, this is the most expensive movie ever made at a staggering cost of $700 million...and it's all onscreen and showcased with some of the most dazzling camerawork I've ever seen, this camera literally flies.
An absolutely sensational 7 hours and a definite must-see on the big screen...hell, I'm going to see this again next Sunday!!

Re: DIRECTOR CHECKLIST SERIES - Volume #493 - SERGEI BONDARCHUK
In order of merit:
1.War and Peace (1967) ****
2.Destiny of a Man (1959) ***1/2
3.Waterloo (1970) ***
Even in a pan-and-scan VHS edition, WAR AND PEACE was an awesome experience and I even dubbed it "the most spectacular film I'd ever seen" back then. I've since acquired it on DVD-R but I can only dream how sensationally grand it'd look on the big screen.
