What are you most afraid of?

For me, there are two things that scare the shit out of me:

1) Being wrongly convicted of Murder! - not only do you have to spend years of your life in a hellish pit, but when you get ouy, you are worth nothing - you are the lowest order of society - your life is RUINED and it isn't your fault!

2) Dying in a pete bog! (not so scared of this now, but was petrified of this as a little kid) -it sprung from seeing a particularly gruesome version of Sherlock Holmes' "Hound of the Baskervilles".

What (unorthodox) things are you guys scared of?

Hitting a child with my car. Nothing scares me to death like driving past a park and there is alot of kids playing. I can just see one of them dashing out from between two parked cars...I can't think of anything more awful than that.

Floating away. I understand centrifugal force, but not gravity. Usually I stay close to trees so I'll have something to grab on.

Please keep in mind that I have no idea what I'm talking about and am only allowed off "D" WARD for 3 hours at a time to volunteer in the Medical Library.

Fear mongering. I used to watch a few shows like Crossfire on CNN, now there is nothing but continual "Scare TV" 24/7.
First the "Terrorist Experts" tell what can happen to you, then they tell you there’s nothing you can do about it. That seems to be total extent of the knowledge these "Experts" have!

My answer is: Fear and Ignorance

Pan and Scan DVD's, followed closely by non-anamorphic transfers!

I'm generally along the same lines as Eric.

Ignorance
Intolerance
Close-Mindedness
Incompetence, particularly in areas of power and authority.

In general, the commitment to deny and avoid reality.
