Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
I'll nominate the only 2 I saw that aren't on your list:
Hitch
Chicken Little
"Movies should be like amusement parks. People should go to them to have fun." - Billy Wilder
"Subtitles good. Hollywood bad." - Tarzan, Sight & Sound 2012 voter.
"My films are not slices of life, they are pieces of cake." - Alfred Hitchcock
"My great humility is just one of the many reasons that I am vastly superior to everyone else." - Ramrod Clerk

Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
Joe, those films are already in the tournament. The list of bolded films in the first post are already in. You can nominate something else.

Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
Well, I'd love to nominate and play along Brook, but the fact that the list contains films as old as 2003 just confuses me.
I realize that you're probably going for 2005 US releases (despite the fact that some films in that list were first released in the US in 2006), but that makes your 2005 list different from my (Canadian) 2005 list and different from say, Steve Christou's (UK) 2005 list, or Mario's 2005 list, etc.
There is really only one 2005 list and that list isn't limited to US dates.
Since I pay zero attention to US release dates (are they really important?), I have no idea what to nominate.
Can I nominate Innocence...a film I saw in 2004 but was released in Canada in 2005, but not commercially released in the US at all?
Can I nominate What Is It?...a 2005 US film that I saw in 2005, but still hasn't received a commercial release?
Can I nominate Memory for Max, Ida, Clair and Company, a devastating 2005 Canadian doc or do 2005 Canadian releases not count?
Can I.... sorry, I'm being a grump, thorny subject and all
Carry on!
My DVD Collection Film Lists: 2001 (416), 2002 (412), 2003 (374), 2004 (346), 2005 (302), 2006 (221) Film Tracking 2005 (862), 2006 (852) Last 15 Watched: Pretty Boy (1993,Carsten Sønder) 3/5, From the Edge of the City (1998,Constantine Giannaris) 3/5, The Holy Child (2001,Stéphane Clavier) 3/5, Boy's Choir (2000,Akira Ogata) 3/5, The Fire That Burns (1997,Christophe Malavoy) 4/5, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008,Nicholas Stoller) 3/5, Ong-bak (2003,Prachya Pinkaew) 3/5, I Want to Live!
