Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
"2046" - I almost said "in a squeaker" (I really do like "3-Iron" quite a bit despite voting against it once before). The first time I saw "2046", I was a bit letdown. It certainly wasn't "In the Mood for Love", and it seemed not to be much of anything but some loosely related vignettes all variations on that theme of love, loss, longing, regret. And maybe that's all it is - and if so is that so bad? - but upon second viewing I really connected with the rhythms and mood of the piece, and now even when I can't watch the whole thing, I'll put on favorite sequences as though they were great tracks off a beloved album, sorta like how I'll occasionally watch just one of the two "Chungking Express" stories (usually the Faye Wong one). [BTW, I have the R3 Fox DVD, which apparently doesn't have the preferred "green-tint" color scheme... does anyone recommend a different DVD as being clearly preferable?]

I have quite a few of the unseen ones in my "to watch" pile, so I may edit to add picks if I see any before this round is over.
