Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
3-Iron
In Her Shoes - didn't like Melinda at all, In Her Shoes is very underrated
High Tension - Saw 2 was unnecessary. The ending of Tension made no sense, but I enjoyed it up to that point
abstain - I have Lord of War right here in front of me...I'll be back later. Except for the special effects, I didn't think too much of WotW and I really hated the lame-o Spielberg ending

Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
Advancing:
3-Iron over 5x2 - 2-1 (Would have been my vote as well. I've enjoyed the other Ozon films I've seen but I didn't think 5x2 worked very well)
In Her Shoes over Melinda & Melinda - 3-0 (My vote as well. I liked the comic half of Melinda with Will Ferrell channeling Woody. The dramatic half OTOH is one of Allen's poorest efforts.)
High Tension over Saw 2 - 4-0 (Agree again)
Tiebreaker time....
Lord of War over War of the Worlds - 3-2 (Tough as both had strong sections alongside flat out poor material that turned them from very good films to just ok films that I don't have much desire revisit. WoW had higher highs which made for a greater disappointment by the end.)
Syriana
vs.
Transporter 2
Kingdom of Heaven
vs.
The New World
Three Extremes
vs.
Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist
Millions
vs.
Everything is Illuminated
Can someone explain posting images to me. This is driving me nuts!

Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
Abstain - Transporter 2 is not my cup of tea, but I loved Syriana.
The New World - I have yet to watch my Kingdom of Heaven DC though, so this is in reference to the theatrical edit.
Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist - the third story in Three Extremes brought it down slightly for me. The full length Dumplings is fantastic.
Abstain - no Millions.

abstain all around.
Have seen only 3 of those, and they are not pitted against each other.

Re: The Best Film of 2005 Tournament
Transporter 2 - Syriana was ok, but trying too hard to be 'meaningful' in an Oscar sort-of-way. Transporter was fluff but entertaining.
The New World - Kingdom bored me to tears, New World was great, but not Malick's best
Three Extremes
abstain - no Everything is Illuminated just yet
Brook, if Elizabeth's explaination doesn't do it for you, let me know
