Never heard of, never seen.
"Movies should be like amusement parks. People should go to them to have fun." - Billy Wilder
"Subtitles good. Hollywood bad." - Tarzan, Sight & Sound 2012 voter.
"My films are not slices of life, they are pieces of cake." - Alfred Hitchcock
The Lakers may have sucked this year, but at least they didn't suck as much as the Spurs.

*1. Safe - A (one of my favorite films of the 90's, one of Julianne Moore's best performances)
2. Far From Heaven - B+ (I was really high on this film when I first saw it but have cooled to it a bit since. I don't think Haynes updating made the film more resonant and there are already two superior versions)
3. I'm Not There - C
4. The Velvet Goldmine - C (Didn't get much out of this sex, drugs and Glam & Roll story except for another visit from Ewan McGregor's "little bishop in a turtleneck")
Own: 1

Damn, he's just whippin' it out everywhere.
(Fortunately, in Young Adam, my attention was focused on Tilda Swinton's breasts.)

While he's jumping up and down, to boot. He's not a shy boy.

Holy Shit!!!
Out of
Far from Heaven (2002) - Damn fine film. I believe it is superior to the original in many ways. haven't seen Ali yet for comparison.
Velvet Goldmine (1998) - I will see this one soon.
Safe (1995) - Love the ambiguity and how it doesn't hammer the audience over the head with its real meaning. Own the DVD
Dottie Gets Spanked (1993) (TV)
Poison (1991) - Have the DVD but haven't watched it yet for some reason.
Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story (1987) - Would love to check this one out. Not on DVD as far as I know. Maybe buried in some collection of shorts somewhere. Anyone know?
Assassins: A Film Concerning Rimbaud (1985) - Who actually knows the proper pronunciation of the artist's name?
We give to you a disc of gold
It represents the dreams we hold

Never heard of him but I do remember picking up the box to Far from Heaven on one of my rare journeys to the local Hollywood Video, though I put it back on the shelf after reading the summary. Yikes.
Think I went with After the Sunset with Pierce Brosnan instead.

John, my film professor told us a website where you can buy a compilation with Superstar on it. It's www.illegalart.org, I think, not sure about the .org though, just fool around and you should find it.
\"Old theatres are irreplaceable. They could never be duplicated at today\'s costs - but more importantly, their spirit could not be duplicated because they remind us of a day when going to the show was a more glorious and escapist experience. I think a town\'s old theatres are the sanctuary of its dreams.\"-Roger Ebert
