This I can agree on with Jim. I've enjoyed all of his films to one degree or another, but he's never struck me as one of the greatest French directors. Of course there are still a number of his highly thought of films I haven't seen.
1. The Rules Of The Game - A
2. The River - A- (even though I know Renoir was forced to use non-actors in some of the principle roles, it still drags the film down a notch)
3. La Bete Humaine - A-
4. French Cancan - A- (fun and exuberant, but would probably be a "B" movie without the presence of Gabin)
5. Elena And Her Men - B+ (fun to watch Ingrid Bergman in something so light and breezy)
6. The Grande Illusion - B+ (I really need to watch this again)
7. The Crime of Monsieur Lange - B+
8. Boudu Saved From Drowning - B
9. A Day in the Country - B
10. The Golden Coach - B
Own: 0 (always intended to buy Rules of the Game but never got around to it)
Yes, Captain Hammer's here, hair blowing in the breeze. The day needs my saving expertise! - Captain Hammer, Corporate Tool
2002 Sight & Sound Challenge: 313 Last Watched: Time of the Gypsies
Last 10 Films Watched:
Diary of the Dead - B+ / The Invisi
