Third Band of Outsiders

Second Tokyo Drifter

Quick, someone else needs to watch Casque D'Or!!

I have Touchez Pas Au Grisbi high on my Netflix list, but it is out of stock and thanks to the insidious X-Box, I haven't been watching movies at anywhere near my usual rate so I'm not turning over Netflix as fast.

Any thoughts on whether On The Waterfront counts as a "gangster" movie?

Updated.

Nominated: Johnny Stecchino

Seconded: Rififi

Thirded: Kiss of Death '47

Haven't seen On the Waterfront in awhile so I can't comment on it. However, I did say I was gonna play this one kind of loose.

And someone needs to see Touchez Pas Au Grisbi!

Third
Gangs of New York - though I'm not crazy about it

There's plenty more films I'd like to nominate but I think it would be pointless with classics such as Angels With Dirty Faces, Big Combo, Little Caesar, The Petrified Forest, Public Enemy, The Roaring Twenties, sitting in limbo.

I'm a bit puzzled at the reason, is it because nobody has seen these? or they've seen them but aren't interested in advancing them?

If it's the former reason, I can understand (though these should be high on anyone's to-see list).

If it's the later reason then this blows.

The Collection (Blu-Ray High Definition/DVD)

Pre-orders - BLU-RAY: Akira, The Dark Knight, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Death Proof, King Kong, La Femme Nikita, Planet Terror, Raging Bull, Ronin, The Third Man DVD: .................

Jim, I haven't seen most of those titles and of the few I have on Laserdisc; I am unsure what their viewing rate might be for other HTFers, but you make a good point about their classic status. ( I stil need to see The Big Combo, it has been languishing in my collection for some time. )

Well, viewing the 1st entry in the thread shows some of them in need of thirds, so instead of nominating; I'll third:

Little Caesar
The Public Enemy ( Both from my LD collection. )

Second:
Rififi

Nominating:
The Seven-Ups
The Pope of Greenwich Village
The Usual Suspects
Kansas City Confidential - since Reservoir Dogs is on the list.

- Walter.

Third Atlantic City

Second My Blue Heaven

I haven't seen the movies you mentioned Jim. White Heat is the only movie in the Warner gangster box I've seen.
