Favorite unexpectedly touching moment in a comedy...
We all love film comedies, whether they be intelligent or stupid. The question today is, what are some of your favorite unexpedtedly touching moments in a comedy?
2 of my favorites:
"Pee-Wee's Big Adventure"
"UHF"
Sincerely,
John Kilduff...
I suppose it's a matter of personal taste.

The last few scenes of Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Gets me every time.

Yep.
I'll take one from a television show in the Simpsons. After the hippy talks to Homer's mother (which was pretty funny the way he talks), and after Homer's mother says goodbye, we see Homer sit on the trunk of his car. You expect something funny to happen, but it doesn't. Instead, you see Homer staring at the starry sky longing for his mother.

If musical comedies count, I'd like to mention:
"Little Shop Of Horrors"
To be specific, the musical numbers "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly, Seymour". In most musical comedies, you wouldn't expect the songs to be poignant. Here, though, they definitely are.
Sincerely,
John Kilduff...
The songs sound even more poignant in French. Why weren't they dubbed into Spanish, though?

And then when I feel so stuffed I can't eat anymore, I just use the restroom! And then I CAN eat more!

I like the DeNiro/Grodin exchange at the end of Midnight Run.

The scene in the Replacements where...
I don't know why but that always gets to me. I love it when teams come together.
