An Asian film tournament might be a go, assuming a limited field (16-32).
|
Bring it on. I think we could find 64 films with ease.
|
I agree that a limited field would work but I had much higher aspirations. Probably unrealistic considering I wanted 128 films at the very least.
Seeing as how there is no equivalent to the AFI or BFI for Asian films I was going to ask for 3 or 4 volunteers to help me compile the majority of the field & then open up the rest for nominations. I'd need people with a more than adequate knowledge of certain aspects of Asian Cinema (Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, etc.).
If I decide to do one it'll be all out or nothing, thats the way I am.
If I decide I'm not up for it I'll give it over to you Angelo & you can do with it as you please.
Let me mull it over for a few days.
The Collection (Blu-Ray High Definition/DVD)
Pre-orders - BLU-RAY: Akira, The Dark Knight, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Death Proof, King Kong, La Femme Nikita, Planet Terror, Raging Bull, Ronin, The Third Man DVD: .................

Is Isle of the Dead anywhere near Zombietown?
I'm sure I've seen more Asian films than British ones, though there are still many, many more I need to see.

The Ladykillers, by a mile.
And I advise everyone to pick up Whisky Galore! as soon as it makes it to DVD. Terrific film. It is in my top 3 list of Most Wanted on DVD (along with A Matter of Life and Death for R1, and The Belles of St Trinian's).

I agree Philip. I'd rank it right up there with the best Ealing Comedies.

No, it's in Greece.
It was once a summer residence of The Royal Tennenbaums, but now it's inhabited by a Band of Outsiders living In the Mouth of Madness.
Every year the 2 chief residents (outside of the Vampyros Lesbos crowd, but that's another story), May & Mr. Vampire hold an Audition to determine who gets to play Candyman at Halloween despite the fact that here, Children are STILL not allowed to Play With Dead Things From Another World!!!
It's just plain crazy!
