Very close—I’m going with Martin, By Brakhage pushing me over the edge. This really shows what you can get with a DVD.

Since I'm getting slaughtered here, I guess I'll throw in a vote for myself. Here's my thoughts on Nick's picks:
8 1/2 - I got this out of the library, watched about half of it, but didn't like it much. I'll probably give it another chance some day.
Rashomon - excellent
Rushmore - excellent
Monty Python's Life of Brian - excellent
Rififi - haven't seen
Traffic - okay movie, haven't seen the Criterion DVD
Gimme Shelter - haven't seen it, but I really want to
Oliver Twist - haven't seen
The Royal Tenenbaums - excellent
M - it was okay, I wasn't impressed
Between the two Andersons and the Monty Python, Nick grabbed three titles that I was considering for my own list.

Hmm, now this is hard.
Nick has 3 or 4 great ones, especially Rififi and M, whereas Martin only has 2, The 39 Steps and Charade. But I like those 2 better, and besides, there's nothing On Martin's list I dislike as much as I do Rushmore and the Royal Tennenbaums.

Just so you know I picked M based on the film itself. I am aware that the transfer and extras are somewhat lacking.

I own 8 of Nick's (all but Rififi and Gimme Shelter) and only 3 of Martin's (39 Steps, Red Beard, Seven Samurai), so...
