Very interesting question, I would say my Denon 4802R receiver, it's really the heart of my Home Theater.

Arcam FMJ CD23 CDP cause it's in a higher class than the rest of my system. Had to buy it used but there is no looking back and the diff between this and my Cambridge is night and day.

Right now its my new Rotel RMB-1095. Hopefully within the week its my new Paradigm Studio(40,20,CC470 v3) speakers I'm looking at. We can't forget its all our gear working as one that gives us the audio/video we've come to love.

Panasonic RPTV(16:9) 47wx52
Panasonic RP82
Marantz AV560U with RC5000i remote
Rotel RMB-1095
Paradigm Mini Monitors(F/R)

Mine would have to be my Sony G70 CRT projector.

Although my most expensive piece is a projector, audio is #1 with me. My system wouldn't be the same without my Soundline Audio SL3 mains, with a ribbon element that goes all the way down to 250 Hz and competes favorably with the Maggie 3.6's in a number of attributes. IMO, anyone into audio should be striving for their speakers to be their fav.
