The Informer and The Quiet Man

John Ford's two very different takes (and excellent films both) on The Old Sod.

My first one is obligatory. I hope you understand.

The Princess Bride & Labyrinth

Dirty Dancing & Sleeping With the Enemy
for those times when you've done something horribly wrong, such as kill someone or cheat on your lover, or pull that tag off the mattress.

Spirited Away & Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Chinatown & Memento

Shit, you'd have to take a week off to watch that!

Dirty Dancing & Sleeping With the Enemy

I'm not sure what those two have in common other than they're your favorite movies. In any case, I think such a double bill would be against the Geneva Convention.

Note: you don't necessarily have to have seen both films in order to nominate (or vote on) a double bill.

A very fun idea Steve.

Mr. Hulot’s Holiday and Gosford Park—the original and the homage.

Crimes and Misdemeanors and Cries and Whispers—the homage and the original.

Singin’ in the Rain and The Young Girls of Rochefort—a Gene Kelly double feature.

L’ Atalante and L’ Avventura—two runaway women or relationship resolution (or not)

¡Time is not my master!

Raise the Red Lantern and Ju Dou. Of course, having Lantern on DVD would be nice as well.

Glengarry Glenn Ross and Death of a Salesman (1957).

Unforgiven and Once Upon a Time in the West.

The Last Waltz and Stop Making Sense.
