HD Slide Show

I have a 40 inch Sony 1080p HD TV, also photoshop elements 5 and Nero7, plus a bunch of vacation photos. I would like to make a slide show that uses the full capability of the TV (that is, show the slides at 1080 lines). Photoshop 5 supports a 720 line slide show format, but not 1080. Nero 7 tries to burn a DVD at 1080 lines, but the I get an error message: "You are burning a disc with UDF version 2.5 or higher. Windows XP and earlier versions will not be able to mount this disc." I don't have any idea what that means. Nero support is the world's worst. There is something on the disc, but I can't read it at all. Can anyone tell me if Vista would work? Third party software? Blu-ray burner? I am using a PVR I built this year. The Sony also doubles as the monitor. System works fine with snapstream for video capture.
Any thought would be appreciated. Am I in the right forum? Bill Roberts
(The slides look terrible on a big screen at about 480 lines.)
