I have and use the Canon SD550 same basic camera bigger LCD screen. Been very please with the results and it has fit very well into carrying along to outdoor events. Things that are HUGE improvements over first dig cam which was a Toshiba. Extremely quick startup, literally seconds from power on to first picture. Very quick focus, big problem on my old camera took several painstaking seconds for the camera to focus usually resulting in a missed moment or unfocused picture (you could overide the autofocus by pressing the shutter button harder). Great battery life too.

Re: Canon Elph SD500: Anyone own one?

I just received mine yesterday. Prior to this, I used a Nikon Coolpix 995 and this smokes it by far! Like Clint mentioned, this camera is lighting quick, the technology has really come a long way. The one only possible downside I might see is its so SMALL, it's tiny and I have big hands!
But I love it so far! I am pleased w/my $270 amazon hot buy

Regards,
Todd
