Ink consumption of Canon i960

Hello everybody,

My office bought one of these printers a couple months ago, based upon the good reviews at www.dpreview.com (a site that caters to professional photographers).

We have used it ONLY to print digital photos. We have printed only a few dozen photos so far (8.5 x 11), but we've just emptied our 2nd "photo magenta" cartridge. Is this unexpected? How often do you folks (i960 or i950 owners) have to change ink tanks?

Also, where can I get the best prices on replacement tanks? Should I stick with genuine Canon ink, or is it safe to use cheaper off-brands? Any tips that will make photo printing more economical would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Photo Magenta and Photo Cyan will always be the first tanks
to go empty followed by black. That's just the way it is
with most photo printers. My friend has a 960 and it does
great prints I can't help with ink though he just buys
them at the local staples.

Thanks for the info, Brett.

This is the first time either the boss or I have used a dedicated photo printer. We just wanted to be sure nothing was wrong.
