Here are a couple pics from my chicago/milwaukee trip over this last 4th of July weekend. I had a good time and got a couple good pics with my brand new Sony W1 that I was very impressed with. Remember I am a rookie. Most pics were taken while in the Manual mode. I must say this camera is a bit big to get in and out of the pocket quickly, but performed well above the Canon SD110 that my friend had on the trip. Let me know what you guys think.

Greg, nice pix. I like the last one of Michigan Ave. the best. BTW, I see that the exposure time was 4 seconds. I too have the W1 and did not see how to adjust exposure time. Is something in the menu you can change? or is it a result of some other setting? Total dig.cam. noob here. :b

You have to be in the M mode for manual settings. Once in the M mode click in the circle button and the settings for exposure and aperature will be highlighted. You can adjust your exposure value by hitting the up and down buttons anywhere from 1/1000s to NR30" (which means noise reduction 30s exposure!) and the aperature will be adjustable between two values depending on the zoom you are using by hitting the two left and right buttons. The lower of the two aperature settings will let in more light(great for the dark shots, but make sure you have your flash off). Hope this helps produce some better pictures for you as it did for me. Ah, the M (manual) mode, that makes sense. I'll have to try that tonight. Thanks! I read through the instructions, but must have missed that section on time exposure. BTW, do you know what the P mode on the dial is for?

The P mode stands for Program mode, and this is basically the same thing as M mode or Manual mode but it picks the exposure time, and aperature for you based on the conditions present I believe(someone may be able to correct me on this). I use this mode to adjust for B&W pics, and also for different pictures where the green camera just doesn't quite get the shot done.

Okay, now its starting to make sense. I was messing around in the P mode thinking it was exactly the same as the M mode, but couldn't find the exposure time adjustment. Thanks for the info Greg. I haven't played with this new toy nearly as much as I've been meaning to. Time to get on it.
