I realize most people go with Nikon and Canon due to two
major influences. Either you are a long time Ni/Can user
and already have a cache` of Nikkor or L glass or you really
dig the marketing of said companies.

When I was shopping for my D-SLR I looked closely at the
D100 and the 10D and the SD10 (at that time the Drebel and
D70 didn't exist).

I didn't let advertising lure me into any purchase I sat
down and thought about what was important to me and the
absolute rule for me was the image quality at full size.

For me I chose a camera which had what I thought was the
best image quality for the money that I could afford. I
wouldn't throw my nose up at a Canon 1D but at the time I
couldn't afford the 1D body. And honestly I wouldn't chose
any other body over my SD10 other than a 1D

Now do not mistake my words as critisism of the other models
because I feel that right now is a great time for digital
photography as a whole and it just keeps getting better and
better. The Drebel and D70 are amazing advances in DP and
drove the pricer to own a DSLR lower than most people thought
it possible. Looking back just 3 years you had no choice
but to spend 3K on a body and now you can get a great body
for $900.00 you just have to love it!

The sensor is great, but unfortunately the SD9/10 just doesn't have good lens support for Nikon or Canon lenses. That's too bad. Hopefully in a few years the sensor will be more widely available.

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him...a super-callused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

I disagree - you're just a black sheep in a field of white sheep. We are all little sheeps being led towards the slaughterhouse with the promises of beautiful new lenses....

Yes I do have many pix to add.. I am going to do that later

I *just* got my PC back up and running

As for the lens support it's always changing for us Sigma
guys and gals.. See we have support in the oddest of places
like right in Japan! There is one particular fellow who has
been working furiously to replace the SA mount with an EF
mount and it *Can* be done.. It's a permanent modification
but the comminication protocol in the SD's is basicaly the
Canon EF protocol with a different bayonet mount and that
is about it.

Sigma has some fantastic lenses that can best the top of
the line from Ni and Can IMHO but not "all" of their lenses
are that good. And it certainly would be a godsend to be
able to use EF lenses that would be my only major gripe
aside from the actual "speed" of the camera.

That is something else I hope Sigma and Foveon can address
in future models. I would be completely pleased with a body
that can shoot at 5 FPS for about 30 Frames and it can be
done.. We have a guy who tore a dead SD9 apart and we poked
around all the circuits and the Sigma camera isn't even
using 1% of it's processing power. It runs a 233Mhz StrongArm
CPU but only runs at 10Mhz we presume to conserve on power..

So I am sure they can work something out faster in the future
