The Austin HTF Poker Group
(let the barking begin)[/c]

With the ever growing popularity of our HTF Poker Games it is indeed time to dedicate a thread to just our poker talk.

For those just joining in, our group has been getting together for events, meets, movie nights, and social gatherings for several years now, but recently there has been a great deal of interest in poker nights. As such the Austin Movie Nights! thread has recently been quite a mix between poker and movie discussions making it difficult for those interested in one and not the other to find relevant topics.

I spoke with Parker Clack, co-owner of HTF and the Moderator of this forum, and it is possible to move all the poker posts to this thread, but considering the amount of posts I do not believe that is such a good idea. Instead here are some links that will allow those that are interested to at least find most of our previous poker related posts:A few other past poker related threads:[c]Shuffle Up & Deal!
(let the poker talk proceed)[/c]

Also, I am ready to play some poker, my luck is going pretty good right now. I won a Canon digital camera from a Gold's Gym drawing tonight. I also purchased 15 raffle tickets for a Jolida tube integrated amp on 9/12, so maybe me luck will hold up til then as well. I came home from the drawing/ workout and told Maria that I need to host a game, hmm maybe soon.
I'm aching for a game myself as I have missed two recent tournaments and watching the last few days of the WSOP's main event is only giving me even stronger poker withdrawals.

(Not to mention I really need to break in my new set of chips.)

I was about to bug and ask if this thread was going to be allowed or not. I guess so.

So anyhow as to planning the next game, I think I should be able to host one. How about planning a game for next weekend 9/10 or 11? I will probably have our new LCD Tv out in the living room as well, so we can display the Hogs vs Horns game if we do it on the 11th, muted of course, blue's reign supreme in my house.

My system should also be complete as my cables are to be shipped before the end of this week. In celebration of the end of this extremely long wait I may just have to add some food and drink prior to poker time as well and open that up to others who would like to come socialize.

Feel free to chime in here with some ideas, but let's do this! Nils if we use your new chips, will we need a bottle of champagne to break over the chip case?

Woo woo. Poker thread. I'm in for the 10th or 11th, Tubes. I'd love to check out Nils' chips as that's the design I currently covet I should have some new cards in by then (I ordered a couple of setups of plastic cards by a company called Gemaco). IMO, their the best cards out there as I like them a good bit better than the Kem cards we've had at my house the last couple of games. Don't get me wrong about the Kems, I like them a lot (2nd place), but the Gemacos are just awesome.

Let us know if it becomes official and how many people you'd want me to round up, if any, which is dependent on how many HTFers are interested. Speaking of which, anyone seen hide or hair of the Hayengas? I hope we haven't run 'em off...they still have a lot of my money

Steve

P.S. Thanks for arranging all the poker posts, Nils. That's good stuff.

Hey count me in on the next poker night. Things are starting to settle down a little so I should have some more free time.

Tube's Poker Night and more

Saturday, September 11th
Poker to begin at 7pm'ish
Prior to start of poker, folks are free to drop in say hi, listen to some tunes, drink, and eat some home-cooked food.
So we will open up the doors at 4:30 pm for the pre-poker social gathering stuff. At 7:45pm we will put the Arkansas vs. Texas game on my big screen 17" LCD TV. Of course the poker part of the evening will have an emphasis on fun, drinking, and socializing as opposed to super-serious poker.

For the poker side we have four out of eight spots filled.
Me
Nils
Steve
Greg
So first four to let me know they are coming will fill the remaining spots.

Nils bring your chips and table top please.
Steve bring your new cards if they are in by then.

If you are planning to attend the eating portion of the evening please let me know on that as well, so we can buy the right amount of food.

Players beware the Whistle Pig will be out of it's cage this night!

Sounds good to me Tubes!

BTW: I heard the Longhorns took a real beating yesterday.

They certainly gave their special teams a work out with all that kick-off coverage time.

Back on the subject of poker chips, check out this guy's eBay listing:

300 11.5g Dice Striped Poker Chips +Poker Table Top

Nothing really unusual until you see the price.

I'm guessing he simply forgot to put in the decimal point as $110.89 would seem closer to reality, but I'm surprised he hasn't noticed it. Maybe he is hoping someone wont know any better?

Mark,

Isn't Mitch turning 21 in a few weeks? I think we need to plan for a special tequila shoot-out poker game in honor of the occasion.
