I'd still be interested in a projector shootout. It just seems those willing to host it are no longer interested (Nils and Colin).... unless people want to squeeze into my 15x15 bedroom/ht.

I'm up for a meet any time. Haven't been posting much as we've been very busy with the house and Mirus, but we're still keeping a pulse on what's happening.

Okay, to get this thing off high center, I am officially offering my house. The living room is large enough, but I'll take volunteers to get gear set up - it's not my normal HT room, it's my POKER room. We will need a screen.

Let's do it! Otherwise, if Nils is still up for offering his garage (which I think is still a good idea, despite the heat, you wussies!)...sorry, I'll let him speak for himself.

Let's set a date - about 2-3 weeks away??

I have my portable 100" screen to offer up, but it's a higher gain screen (2.2 or 2.5, I can't remember).

Well alrighty then... Looks like we have traction after all.

Hank,
Let me know how I can help with the gear or in any other manner. I'm new to HT, so I'm not sure just how helpful I can be. But since I have been making the most noise lately, I figure I will do whatever I can to assist in pulling this off.

Thanks to Hank for offering up his place for the PJ shootout. I'm there whether we are in his temperature controlled non-HT LR, in Nils' steamy garage, or any other place that might be offered up.

I know that I lack knowledge of the details regarding what needs to be assembled and coordinated in order to put on a PJ shootout.
Is there someone out there who can enlighten me?

I offer my Panny AE700 for the meet.

The count for the PJ shootout so far is 6 or 7:
Hank Frankenberg
Humphrey
Mark Hayenga
James Phung (Infocus 4805)
Jonathan DA (spoke of a friend with a Sharp Z2000)
Jonathan's friend?
Jay.H (Panasonic AE700)

People who previously showed interest in a meet and may want to participate:

Colin Dunn (Sony 10HT)
Dave Elliot (BenQ 8700+)
RexS
Nils Luehrmann
Federick_Falk
John Prator
KevinHunt?

There could be others who may opt in as well. Speak up!
Anyone with one of the newer PJs available?

The 13th of August is unavailable ( Rene's Birthday Party).
I am available for either the 20th or 27th of August.

Seems things are picking up.

I'm gonna need some more details on what will be available at Hank's (or wherever the meet will be) and what time the meet is going to happen.

I can also bring my Oppo dvd player if needed, I know I'm not the only one using this player.

I also have a DaLite 92" High Contrast Matte White pulldown screen, but this will not fit in my car and I cannot transport it. However, if everyone feels we can use this screen and Hank has a way to hang this up somewhere in his room, and someone can provide transportation of the screen, I have no qualms in taking it to the shootout.

Is there audio and equipment for sound available or are we going to need people to provide this also?

I doubt we'll be able to get the Z2000 for the meet. I checked with guy I know who has one and he said it's not easily removable from his ceiling. Too bad. What about a Toshiba MT700, BenQ 7700, or Sony HS51? I would love to see any of those three, but don't know anyone who has one.

I'd suggest taking Mark up on his instatheater screen offer. High gain or not, it's a nice screen and easily portable.

The Oppo player would be my first choice for a DVD player. It's currently my fave of the upscalers I've seen.

Sound can probably be handled by Hank's existing set up, assuming he's willing to temporarily move it from the family room to the living room.

Edit: Posted a message on AVS looking for members near Austin with other models of pjs.

Moving my sound system into the living room (a.k.a. the Texas Hold-em Room) will be a hassle, so I suggest we set up Mark's portable screen in front of my RPTV in the family room. PJ's can be set on the kitchen island, as well as DVD players folks bring over (I'll supply a long audio coax cable from the island to my pre/pro.
Mark, Doc, James (I read the ProjectorCentral mini-review of the OPPO), come over early to work on the set-up.

Now, for a date: Friday is good for me, but this Friday is a short notice, so how about the following Friday, August 12, 8:00PM?
Talk to me.

I am available for the 12th as well.

Can someone tape StarGate SG1 and Atlantis for me though?

Looking forward to seeing everyone again. It has been too long.
