Big Daaawwg!

Yeah, last PPT tourney at my house this Saturday (the 3rd) at 7:30 p.m. (8pm start). I have ordered two different samples. There's this chip and this chip.

It's the second one I really want to check out (cheaper, better looking, et cetera), but it's the first chip I've actually gotten a sample of (three chips). I've felt these chips before, and they are (still) very nice chips as far as feel. They're also $0.45/each, so I'd really like to get the other sample in before Saturday.

I'm actually a bit concerned about this company as I emailed them the first time Tubes showed us the link and never got a response. I then did it a second time back when we were all talking about them and they said they were sending a sample, and I've yet to receive it (though I got the other sample better than a week ago and asked at the same time).

Don't know if it's bad customer service or them hiding a bad chip. I guess we'll see sooner or later.

Their feedback certainly looks impressive. Of the +200 this month alone, they only received one negative and that was from a Canadian customer complaining they had to pay tax... and they blamed the seller?

Those crazy eBayers.

I also suspect they aren't hiding anything, or else it would seem odd they even offered to send out samples, as most eBay sellers do not.

Do they allow you to make your own set of 1000 or do you have to stick with their distribution?

Personally, I think I'm going to hold on to mine for now. I may after all get transparent stickers for them so they wont be slippery, but eventually once tri-color ~10g chips come down to the ~$100 per 1,000 range I'll gladly replace mine.

BTW: Anyone have a suggestion for a company that makes reasonably priced 1/2" round transparent stickers?

Yeah, I'd like to check out that chip eventually. They did say you can specify what colors you want. I'm trying to find the place that had nice stickers and prices, but I'm striking out thusfar. I shall continue my search, however.

Hey Steve,

Can we still participate in this tournament if we haven't played in any of the past ones?

Sure can...just not the Championship. So it kind of sucks because $5 goes to the championship, and a new guy won't qualify. So you'd be paying $30, but the payouts are based on $25/person.

Come on out. You'll dig it

Plus the more people present the more likely we will have a cash game on the side.

Home Poker Tourney has a section on custom poker chip labels and identifies about 10 different companies that sell custom chip labels. They also have some nice suggestions.

Poker Chip Reviews
recently reviewed two custom label vendors, Personal Poker Chips and Slam Dunk Imports. They seemed to like the ones from SDI the best due to the use of a better glossy photographic paper. SDI also sells them for about half the cost of PPC (~$25 per 1,000 labels).

I'm going to start sending away for sample labels and see how they look and feel on my chips. So far, though I have yet to find a company that makes transparent labels so that you can see the color of the chip behind the label.

BigDawg and BoatBoy,

You guys planning on making the Wildcard game on Saturday, the 17th, 3:00 p.m.? You guys are the last two who haven't RSVP'd. Everyone is a yes except for Rich (Goldtooph). He's a maybe. So we may have to dip into the alternates if Rich (or either of you guys) can't make it.

SS
