I don't get out of work until 7pm. Its not just any SciFi night, It's the season premiers from last seasons cliff hangers. I can probably figure out a way to record them. If I do make it, I won't be able to stay long. I have to get up at about 4am Saturday morning to catch a 7am flight to Phoenix.

Yes I am a SciFi junky. Not so much as to go to conventions, but I do tend to get hooked on my SciFi shows. It is about the only thing I watch on TV. In fact it is the only reason I even have cable tv. Those three shows on Friday nights. It seems I may have to get Tivo so I can record my shows and watch them on a less social day or night, so I can attend more of these gatherings.

Ice Queen, Doc and Nils: I will MAKE a spot for the friend.

Hold-'em at Hank's tonight - update

Ice Queen, I didn't know you and Doc were coming - I haven't seen or received a response, but It'll be great to have you. We'll probably be through eating by the time you get to my house, but I'm sure there will be leftovers. All: bring munchies and whatever special adult beverage you like.

Confirmations:

1. Big Dog
2. Bogey
3. Tubes
4. Colton
5. Barrister
6. Shazam
7. Squeezebox (Marketing lady)
8. Ice Queen
9. Doc

Maybe:
Leroy

I have given up on:
Mike S. (I think he's still de-toxifying from last game)
Cossel/Steve S. (He wrote an e-mail saying he'd give me his yes or no by last Sunday or Monday, so no response to me means NO)

I bought a tape for my VCR during lunch and went home and set the VCR up to record during the time my shows are on. That thing better work or it will be target practice next week when I get home.

I'll see you as soon as I can get there after I get out of work at 7:00. We can't have Raelene thinking she isn't the most important thing in the world. or that I am some sort of

I'll hang out for a couple hours, then I have to go home, pack and try to get a couple hours of sleep before I have to head to the airport.

!%$@%@#$%^^@$%!# VCR didn't work.

Fortunately, they did reshow Battlestar Galactica, so I did get to see that one. I'm sure they will reshow them sometime this weekend.

I had a great time!! I'm soooo glad I decided to go. Thanks Hank for hosting. I'm looking forward to the next one.

For SG-1 there are no repeats according to the schedule on their website. For Atlantis there is a repeat on 08/23/2005 THE SIEGE - PT 3. Long time to wait for a 'fix'.

When they (Sci_Fi Channel) wants to rule Friday night I guess they expect you'll be glued there from either 7-10 or 10-1am whichever suits your schedule, but either way they get your attention on Fridays. Maybe someone else taped it on VHS? BitTorrent, LimeWire? etc...

Did you at least win some hands at the table?

Thanks for a great evening folks! Good socializing before the poker. Nils, thanks for bringing your new oval table - it was great. Problem was, it seemed to have a significant slant towards the end that Shazam was sitting at. He had the lion's share of the chips all evening.
The extra ladies were a treat. Sitting in at their "uninhibited" table was scary indeed. A mound of chips worth 'millions'??! Raelene and Doc: nice nurse you brought along

Good times!

I just need to stop catching KK when the person to my left has AA. I know that was the second time for sure that has happened to me at one of these games.

I have got to tell you guys about Saturday's listening session over at this guy's house I met via Audiogon. It was just an amazing system and he had a very lovely LP collection. As a big jazz fan my mouth was watering at the sight of nearly every bigtime 50-60's jazz reocord in original mint condition and when applicable in both Stereo and Mono versions. Throw in the Beattles, Dylan, and the Rolling Stones albums, all some of the most desired copies, and it was a jewel of a collection.

Then the system itself has jumped into my top two of favorite system's ever heard. It was housed in a room specifically built for his audio system and actually the system melded perfectly into the room with only a minimal amount of room treatments. He just had the Argent Room Lenses like myself and some Cornertraps.
Here is what he had I will list ~MSRP since most of you may not know much about these brands.
Kochel K300 speakers - 12K
Wavelength Triton Blue 300B mono amps - 12K
Immedia RPM-1 turntable - 6K
Shelter 901 cart - 1.5K
Marantz SA-1 CD/SACD player - 4K
Nagra PLP preamp - 12K
Audio Magic Power Conditioner - 1.5K
Silversmith Audio Silver Cabling - 1.5K/m
then he had a pretty full array of isolation tweaks for each component

Tubes, when are you going to listen to a SYSTEM?? Those paltry, pocket-change setups that you describe are boring us elitists.

A $12,000 preamp????!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!

I just think that short of the band standing in my living room (all of em, anytime I want), no individual piece of equipment is worth the price of a small car. Technology changes too fast. Sticker shock is an understatement on some high end stuff.

But, that's what they make millionaires for right? Lotto anyone?

Don't knock it until you have heard it and learned how to listen to it.
I brought an audio friend who is runiing Maggie 3.6's and afterwards he swore he is selling everything and starting over with a low wattage high efficiency system. He, he I converted him to the dark side.

Another surprise was that last night I went to a wine tasting and audio listening party at Whetstone Audio and for the first time in anything audio related there were more females than males in the room. Amazing, chicks digging through vinyl racks, chicks sitting through the audio demo, pointing out the differences they heard as upgrades were made to the system. And the most amazing of all is the majority of them were actually really hot!
